About Bronx
The Bronx is one of New York City's most colorful boroughs. According to a recent census, it has a population of nearly 1.4 million -- Located north of Manhattan and Queens, and south of Westchester County, the Bronx is the only borough located primarily on the mainland.. The Bronx is dotted with amazing historical and cultural landmarks. Perhaps the most famous artifact is Yankee Stadium, located right near Joyce Kilmer Park. You can also find the City Island Historical Society and Nautical Museum, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
The Bronx is divided by the Bronx River into a hillier section in the west, closer to Manhattan, and the flatter East Bronx, closer to Long Island. The West Bronx was annexed to New York. Bronx is the third-most-densely-populated county in the U.S., about a quarter of its area is open space, including Woodlawn Cemetery, Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park, the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo .
The Bronx River was named for Jonas Bronck, an early settler from Småland in Sweden whose land bordered the river on the east. The borough of the Bronx was named for the river that was "Bronck's River". In recent years, this cultural mix has made the Bronx a wellspring of both Latin music and hip hop.
Another highly celebrated artifact of the borough is the Bronx Zoo, a diverse assemblage of some of the planet's most fantastic animals and plants. Tourists from around the world often come to New York City for the explicit purpose of visiting the Bronx Zoo to view its one-of-a-kind exhibits. The Bronx is also home to innumerable cultural and artistic trends. According to hip hop historians, for instance, the South Bronx birthed the entire genre of hip hop music. The musical form they created right here in the Bronx has since gone on to completely dominate the American charts.
If you are setting up a trip to the Bronx, or if you are a Manhattanite or Brooklyner who is considering moving to the borough,
